Good Grease for Rods
I'm running low on the white grease that came with the printer, so I'm looking for a good quality replacement for greasing the rods. Note that this is a pre-assembled MK3S from the factory, so the bearings are packed with whatever Prusa uses. (if that matters 😀) So far I've only been using the whitish grease they sell here.
I did see that Chris mentioned MG Chemicals Lithium Grease in his Set Your Bearings Straight post...but wasn't sure if this was the best for my situation. I'm a little bit of a noob in this topic.

My suggestion: Don't ever grease the rods.
Pack the bearings with an appropriate grease instead. Keep your rods clean and dry.
And don't ever let any lubricant get on the threaded rod. It is not compatible with the trapezoidal nut.

I own:-
1, my Original, original Prusa i3 mk1, upgraded to mk2 with mmuv1 and mk52 12volt heatbed
2, a Geeetech i3 ProB chinesium printer. this has never been much use, and is currently sat to one side, awaiting some Tender loving, hammering.
3, a Frankenprusa mk2.8 ish... started off as a mk2 that arrived whilst I was unwell, it donated some parts to it's older sibling and sat unloved for a while, and was later built with an einsy, 5 volt fans, 24 volt extruder heater, 24 volt mk52 heatbed, 24 volt PSU, 4wire Pinda, and mk3 extruder parts, the Y motor ran in reverse, so I re configured the pinout to reverse the motor!, it's basically a mk3 in a mk2 frame... Note, you need a mk3 Y carriage!
2a, I ordered an upgrade to the MMUv1... which never materialised... (Prusa decided not to continue with the MMUv1 development, and converted my order to a mmuv1 to mmuv2 upgrade at no additional cost.
2b, prusa developed a mk2.5 upgrade Pre order (with textured build plate) to permit the use of MMUv2 with a mk2 printer... I bought this upgrade and the heatbed went to printer 1, the rest of the parts went to printer 2 delayed because of textured build plate, eventually delivered with smooth stickered plate
4, Prusa Mk3 Pre order... with textured build plate... huge delay, and final delivery with stickered build plate, later upgraded to MMU2 with kit from order 2a... now with modified filament sensor (Tell tale LED)
2b -1, finally got textured sheet for mk2,5 upgrade
4 -1, finally got textured sheet for mk3
5, Prusa Mk3, with textured build plate.... arrived with textured heatbed 🙂 now mk3S, with modified filament sensor (Tell tale LED)
6, Prusa SL1 with CW1, Beta test units, arrived before general supply!
and, that's it at the moment...

And thanks for the information about your farm. Makes my MK3S and unfinished Reprap Mendel look kind of wimpy.
(MK3S was needed to make parts for the Mendel. And I wanted one that works.)

the Geeetech had junk rods and bearings, the supplier dragged things out with promises until I could not get recompense.... I should have known better! and claimed earlier!

Just to be controversial - see from Thomsonlinear.com 😱
SKF recommend greasing the bearings - it's in this tome of a document https://www.skf.com/binary/56-55843/SKF_6402_EN_11_10_19_GB_high.pdf
It also recommends your remove and clean the old lube out first if over 6 months since last lubed.
Other manufacturers may differ with their recommendations but generally go with the clean and regrease method. As for lube - any lithium based light grease is sufficient for 3D printers. Grease in itself is another story - THK have four different greases for different applications for the same linear bearings!!
