Glass Print bed

I'm trying to place a glass sheet (1/ 16" / 1.587 mm) on my mk3 (without the flex plate on). From what I can tell, this should not be outside of the Pinda's range. does glass block the PINDA from measuring the distance?

Using glass in general is perfectly fine. If 1.587mm might be already too thick. You can try it by hand. Put the glass sheet on and place pinda probe over the magnet area. Move slowly the z-achses with your hands down and check if the light at the PINDA probe will turn off before the nozzle hit the bed.

Glass print beds work fine. The problem is finding one that will fit the Prusa.

I'm curious? What would be the reason or advantage of glass versus the PEI coated sheet

Some materials stick better to glass and you're getting shiny surface with glass.

Glass retains heat better than metal. It heats slower but retains it better.
