First Move After Color Change

After a color change, the head moves to what seems like a random spot on the next layer and extrudes a small dab of material before quickly moving on to the start of the the layer. It's frustrating because that dab messes up the print quality. Anyone know if there is a setting to turn this off?

Just to clarify, this is after it has me verify that the new color was loaded correctly and after it extrudes a bit more material before leaving the filament change position. I grab all that filament as it goes to the "dab" position I'm experiencing. TIA

RE: First Move After Color Change

I see the same issue with a manual color change.

I believe that it is not random, but the head is returning to the spot last extruded before the color change.

Normally I just pull off the extra with pliers.

However, for models that are too small to reach it, I add one box shape per color change.  Usually 2mm x 2mm and set the height to be the last layer before the color change.  Also make sure that these boxes are printed last.  The extra extrusion will end up on the throwaway box.

Thanks, the throw away box is a great idea! I usually try and pick off the glob if I can get my hand in there. It's just been especially frustrating on the project I'm working on because it's adding the glob to a small feature that breaks off when I try and remove it and I need to do quite a large quantity of prints. I'd also like to be able to have my wife change colors for me without needing to worry about it. I'll probably have to get into the G-code if there isn't another solution. Thanks for the reply.
