First Layer Calibration Decalibrated

Today I had a strange problem: The nozzle was so close to the print bed, it couldn't print. After I recalibrated the the first layer, the printer came back to normal work. But I have no idea, how this decalibration happend. How does the printer know the distance between the nozzle and the print bed? Is this based on the PINDA sensor? In this case, I would check if the PINDA sensor became loose...

Thats exactly how it knows the distance. The 'offset' you dial in is iirc the distance between the tip of the nozzle and the trigger point of the probe. It's certainly worth making sure the probe clamp is tight and it didn't slip.

Thank you for the input. I'll check the sensor and make sure, It will not move.

Mine was too lose at the start and moved some every few prints. The vibrations can make the PINDA move higher or lower, since it is threaded. It is now very tight and has not lost is first layer calibration sinze.
