First Layer Cal leaves me stuck in endless loop asking if filament is loaded

MK3S, 3.13.1-6876

Haven't had any issues for a very long time but today I decided to swap in a new nozzle. That went seemingly without a hitch. I occasionally have swapped to a different size nozzle and have never had any issues. So I put thenew nozzle on, made sure it was seated and everything was back together and proceed to start a first layer calibration.

As usual it asked me if filament was loaded, with choices for Yes and No defaulting to no. And here's where I get stuck every time. I scroll over to Yes, and click, and the cursor immediately jumps back to No. Try again, scroll over, click on Yes, it jumps to No. I can't leave the page. After waiting and letting it sit in case it was "thinking" I still can't get out of the page and have to either power cycle or hit the reset button.

I searched around and the closest issues to mine involved various combinations of turning off the filament sensor, power cycling, turning it back on. And the reverse. Nothing seemed to work for me.

My filament sensor has been turned off for over a year. I don't use it. I had a brief issue over a year ago with false alarms on filament running out. I managed to troubleshoot and get that working (basically just taking apart that bit of the extruder and reassembling, being very careful to follow the build instructions) but regardless, I turned it of and it was off at the time. Nonetheless, no combination of filament sensor state made a difference through dozens of power cycles and reboots to try to get past the issue.

I decided to just start my print and did a live Z adjustment and am able to print just fine, but I can't run the First Layer Cal or I'll get stuck with my Mk3S in a loop asking me if filament is loaded and not taking Yes for an answer. Also if I select No it just sits there and does nothing but display that page and let me move the cursor and click but it always jumps back to No and just sits there.

Any suggestions?

Another case where the first suspect is a poor connection and the second a broken wire ..

Check the plugs at the einsy end.

Cheerio,

I did open the controller and everything looks ok. Also when I turn the filament sensor on it autoloads and everything as it should, so it seems to be working correctly. I can't make it screw up in that regard, its only the first layer cal that gets stuck.

I have the same behavior and it seems to be a firmware issue.  Backing out to 3.12.2 should resolve.
