Firmware upgrade 3.9.3 failed and now I have a brick

Firmware update to 3.9.3 went awry. The LCD stays on "Original Prusa i3 Prusa Research" and the fan will run a few seconds.  The factory reset procedure does not work.  My Octopi cannot establish serial comms to the printer. Any help or advice would be most appreciated.

Go to https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/my-account, login, then click on the Chat Now button in the lower right corner to talk to Prusa Support.

Most likely another case of https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/issues/2954 . Best solution: flash 3.9.2 again. Maybe add a comment on that Github issue too, so the developers know how often that happens.

I found a save on Reddit. It seems Prusa Slic3r has a port scan utility that detects the printer when avrdude cannot. I was able to complete the upload by temporarily moving my design/slicing workstation down into the basement closet next to the printer enclosure and connect locally. Sub- optimal procedure but at least it came back to life.

@fuchsr

There is no chat button on that page for Prusa support. Just a link to take me back to this forum.

Bout the no chat - you will need to create an account on that site, you'll need the serial # on the silver tag on your printer.  Once you do that you will be able to engage with support.

@dan-rogers

That's the way.

I did say "login", assuming an account was already existing.
