Firmware 3.8.1 is a disaster for me, is there a way to rollback?

I've had multiple issues with 3.8.1 firmware to the point I don't want to print anything any longer. I've only been using Cura 4.6 with Prusa profiles since I've had it. After half a year of actually getting my calibration at the right places and start printing things, the printer likes to just have a mind of it's own:

- Just stop printing for no reason while keeping the bed and extruder at PLA heated temps.

- Just stop printing and drop temp to cold start, prompting me to push the button and insert filament - it was just printing!

Those are my two big issues and I can't determine at all why it's doing this other than firmware.

I've printed no more than 10 items since I've built this thing a year ago, spent 6 months of it sitting here and the rest of the time trying to calibrate it (which finally got my sweet spot down).  I didn't see this issue with other firmware.  There a way to roll back on firmware?

You can find older releases here, as well as the latest 3.9RC3 which may resolve some issues if you want to try a newer version before going back.

Surely when you flash the firmware, you can point it at any version you like. Just download it and try it with an older version. Personally I very much doubt it has anything to do with the Firmware, this sounds like an intermittent connection or something of that kind.

Why don't you use the Prusa Slicer since it's designed specifically for your printer? You should be able to run it straight out of the box without messing about with calibration. Prusa go to great lengths to make this right as supplied, so in my opinion it makes sense to take advantage of that body of work. Why make life hard for yourself?

@roger-f5

Connectivity was the first thing I thought of and have moved it to another USB port - does the same thing - twice.

I don't use Slicer because I frankly don't like it, and I like Cura.  If Prusa didn't like it, they would stop making profiles for it you can load...

Sure they make it right as supplied, but they didn't put mine together, I did.  Shipped from Czech Republic to the U.S. - I wouldn't have taken that chance of something getting broken in shipment, so I opted for putting it together which was not difficult, my only problem was trying to find a better calibration square than the one supplied, and as just about every user has said - the one calibration square that comes with this printer is frankly not good enough to calibrate correctly.  I had frankly given up printing for a while because of my workload and now that I have more time to print, this is really my first opportunity to do so.  I've kept the software/firmware updated even if I weren't using it that much, but I never had the issues I have until this revision.

You call it making life hard for me - you frankly don't know that, it's not hard.  It's just not working correctly and I believe really has nothing to do with whether or not I use Prusa Slicer.

I did the firmware upgrade 3_9_0_mk3  on my MK3 and when I went to use machine, I installed the SD card  that I had been using, the screen went to a bunch of squares but no letters.  I tried to load to a earlier version didn't work I tried to do a factory reset didn't work  tried to use pronterface can't control printer.  I know that it is connected I can see it in device manager.  Firmware installer runs till the end and says update failed
