Finding the most optimal linear speeds on my Mk3S+
So I'm on a quest to improve my print speeds. This weekend I'm going to be replacing my hotend with a Rapido and installing a Bondtech CHT 0.6mm nozzle. I've read incredibly helpful sources like https://projects.ttlexceeded.com/3dprinting_prusaslicer_max_volumetric_speed.html to learn all about max volumetric speed. The part I'm wondering, however, is related to this comment:
I can set my preferred speeds for each feature and the volumetric limits will throttle when – and only if – necessary to keep the flow of filament within the hotend limits.
So, if flowrate significantly improves, what would be good settings for "Preferred speeds" to really get the most out of the new bits? I've had good luck with some faster speeds on my stock setup that I picked out of a youtube video on the subject.
Would anyone have good suggestions on where I can kick it up?

Another approach is to set the speeds to 0 and let it all be driven by MVS, and then dial speeds down for specific features if you see any issues with them. I have a couple of models I print regularly that are completely driven by MVS (albeit with a Dragon hotend and 0.8mm tungsten carbide, not Rapido and CHT). The only speed I manually set is for first layer.

Oh, that's a very interesting idea! What speeds do you have your first layer set for? And do you particularly notice a loss of detail with your .08mm?

I'm away from home but I think the first layer is set to 30 mm/sec. How much speed gain you're going to get from "going MVS" of course depends on your model. In my case it's large rectangular objects almost the size of the sheet, so the hotend can accelerate for a long time, and it saved me 7 hours of print time. With models for which the hotend has to take frequent turns and speed up and brake continuously you may not see much if any improvements though.
"Quality" and "0.8mm nozzle" are probably terms I wouldn't use in the same sentence. More seriously, again it depends on the model. In my case it's tools for detection dog training so I don't really care much for the looks (even though I think they actually look very nice). But I wouldn't use that large nozzle for anything with detail in the xz plane, or parts where dimensional accuracy is of prime importance.
