Filament wont auto load into direct drive

HI, I have an MK3S with an MMU2S. I have verified everything and for the most part it works fine. The only problem is that any filament change or even the first filament in any project i have to disconnect the feeder tube from the direct drive and wait until it sticks out about 3 inches then feed it manually into the direct drive. Once it grabs it, it is good until the next change. So everything in the MMU2 is working correctly. It feeds the correct filament down it reaches to where it is supposed to, its just that the print head does not grab the filament unless i manually push it down into it then reseat the feeder tube. Any ideas what to adjust to get this to accept the incoming filament by automatically?

Check your idler screw tightness.

Idler checked

Here are my findings: The sensor activates as soon as the filament touches it. I mean immediately. So I found the MMU2S should be pushing about another 3/4 inch of filament after the sensor activates. However what is happening is that the MMU2S pushes filament until the sensor activates (1) then it stops and expects the idler to pull the material into it and start printing. The Filament does not make it to the idler, so there is no pushing from the MMU2S and no pulling by the idler. If I manually push (doesn't take much effort at all, slides easily) the filament about 3/4 past the sensor the idler grabs it with no issues and prints correctly. How can I instruct the MMU2S to push filament beyond just the activation point of the sensor by the idler? it just needs a little more to reach the idler.
