Filament sensor stops the print

Hello,

I have used my i3 MK3 only a couple of times so far. It has been an adventure! It taught me how to select and install a new power supply and now it is giving me a delightful problem solving opportunity with the auto filament sensor.

With the sensor switched on in software, a file I am printing quits every now and then to ask for the filament to be removed and replaced.

With the sensor switched off in software, the file prints fine...so far for hours uninterrupted as opposed to every 5 - 10 minute interruptions with the sensor on.

Do I need to clean or re align the sensor?

This failure did not occur with silver PLA filament, only with fillamentum CPE HG "Black Soul" color.

Any suggestions?

Mike

Re: Filament sensor stops the print

Turn it off for glossy filament.

There are a couple options in Search that utilize a small bearing to keep the sensor happy. They both work, although one involves firmware modification (the jltx option).
