Filament sensor not working since last firmware update (?)

Ok, so I noticed my filament sensor is not working.  It shows as NA in the menu and gives me an error message when I select it.  It was working (although I had it tuned off) or at least appeared to be working.  Anyway, I recently updated my firmware (yes, it was the right firmware - MK3S) and after a print or two I decided to turn on the filament sensor and noticed the error.  Has anyone else had an issue with the new firmware (3.9? I think) or is this just a complete coincidence?

Thanks

Feel fortunate that your sensor is the only thing not working. Mine hasn’t worked for five weeks after I put the new firmware and I have been trying to get it fixed they sent me the main motherboard but that wasn’t the problem. My screen lights up but there’s nobody home. I am still down I’m also not real happy right now.

Are you unable to roll back to 3.8.1?

I have tried every firmware program in their list for an MK3S and nothing worked.

RE: Filament sensor not working since last firmware update (?)

Same here on TWO printers!  I had firmware version  3.10.0 on both, and everything was working fine for months. I upgraded both to 3.11.0 today and both had now had filament sensor  N/A as opposed to ON in settings.  I was able to to print fine except the filament sensor wasn't recognized. I just rolled back to 3.10.0 and now the filament sensor is recognized in settings. So if this happens on two printers it is definately a bug. One printer was bought as a kit around Jan 2022 and the other back in 2018 but has been continuously upgraded and is fully up to date with upgrade kits (which included the same newest filament sensor) in addition the even the PSU was replaced on the older one. Both are MK3S+ printers.

This is still a problem in 2025. Updated my firmware to 3.14.1 and now they don't see the filament. They (I have 7) all auto fed filament prior to update...Rolled back from 31.4.1 to 3.14 and all N/A back to ON and autoload works again.

did you load the correct firmware?
Mk3 printers had a laser filament sensor (4 wire device PCB verticle
Mk3S and Mk3S+ had infra red filament sensor  (3 wire device PCB Horizontal)

Mk3S style filament sensor

I downloaded the firmware for the MK3. It still shows the 3.14.1 being the one to get for the MK3. It surely does not work though. 3.14 works great again
