Filament sensor help

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone run into an issue where the fil sensor option within the settings menu is stuck at [off]? I finished a print this morning and went to start my next print and the print head just stayed in the left most corner (normally where it starts a purge line) and just continued to extrude without moving.  The menu was unresponsive and would not let me stock the print and I admit I used the power panic.

After trying to restart a print multiple times with the same issue happening I went back to check if the sensor was registering and it kept coming back as 0. After checking in the menu I noticed I cannot turn the filament sensor on, does this mean my filament sensor is dead or is it potentially another issue? I have tried unplugging and plugging it back in and the menu option is still stuck at off. I have power cycled (non-panic) the printer multiple times and even reflashed the firmware.  Has anyone seen anything like this before?

My printer is an i3 MK3S+ with an MMU2S.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Filament sensor help

Mine is printing at the moment, so I don't want to pull any connectors of to check. 😉

Not sure if the filament sensor option get stuck to "OFF" when there is no sensor connected.

What does it say in the support menu? It should show you what filament sensor is detected (right above the MMU info in that menu)

Do you have a multimeter? If you have one you should check the 3 connections at the Einsy board side. 5v between the red and black wire, and 5v between the red and the white wire with the sensor triggered.

To the subject IR filament sensor, Prusa writes:

I think if the sensor is not connected or defective, N/A will be output on the LCD.

RE: Filament sensor help

Looking at my post now I see I didn't finish it some how.

If you are going to measure the connections you need to do that with every thing connected.
