Filament getting stuck below bond tech gear above PTFE tube

Hello, transparent filament seems to be getting stuck below the bond tech gear and just above the ptfe tube. Any idea why this is happening. The IR still recognises the filament so the gears are still moving, in effect heating the extruder motor.

Any idea why the filament is getting stuck in the ptfe tube?

I'm having the same issues...   I had to replace the PTFE Tube several times in order to keep the printer going.   But I only have that issue with the MK3s...   my older prusas are working fine.          Anybody has any ideas how to solve this.. or why is it happening?

Be sure the filament isn't brittle. Make sure the tension screw aren't overly tight. Check the feed path from the top down past the gears into the PTFE tubing for alignment. Check around the gears for instructions or debris. Check the idler gear to make sure it rotates freely.

Some notes on clearing the break here.

@jose-p6

My own experience is, that it happens when dust and debris made by the gear when a filament gets stuck the first time, falls down in the tube and melts rapidly if it is not brushed away before starting again.

It could surely also happen because of a faulty tube, which I have not experienced on my MK3s.

In step 3 of this video, you can see how to set the tension screw correctly:

Thanks everyone! what worked for me was : https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-hardware-firmware-and-software-help/question-what-might-cause-this-filament-stuck-in-coldend-ptfe-tube./#post-135035

A simple E3D collet clip fixed it for me. To be found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3499966

That is very - interesting.

No obvious reason why preventing the PTFE tube from slipping would cause this - but I will add it to my checklist. Good catch.

The PTFE collet has popped up a few times over the past couple of years. I'm curious why it's not a consistent issue. I'll add it to my "list of things to check".
