Filament does not stick to the bed and creates a blob of filament in the hot end

Hello,

I mounted my i3 MK3S and it worked perfectly for several months, but now it does not, the filament does not properly stick with the bed.

The only remarkable thing I have made lately is an intensive use during the last days (I have been continuously printing face shields for about 12 hours a day for a couple of weeks).

In order to troubleshoot, I have done:

- Several cold pulls (3 or 4 times).
- Readjust the pinda sensor (but I think that was already ok)
- Re-calibrate everything from scratch, using the wizard.

All those things made no difference, no success. When printing, the hot end ends up filled of filament. Much of the filament ends up as a ball in the hot end instead of staying stuck in the bed. I am not sure, but sometimes it looks like the filament amount released by the extruder is not enough.

The only thing I have not done is to dismount the extruder. Should I do it? Or do you have any other tip or suggestion I might try?
If I open the extruder, will I be able to somehow clean it?

When answering please take into account I am still beginner!

Thank you!

To me this sounds like either a dirty bed or a Live Z that's too high for some reason.

What filament are you printing onto what print surface?

@rick-j5

Hi! It's the Spring Steel with PLA.

I have many times tried to tune the Live Z while printing, but I only get the filament stuck with the bed in such a low height that becomes a bit risky. The filament then, seems thinner than paper, which is not right.

About the bed being dirty, I guess it's clean; also I was printing perfectly one day and the day after all failed. But, just in case, can you or anyone tell me how to improve its stickiness or clean it properly?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

print the first layer of the Prusa logo, take a picture and post it on here (drag and Drop near the botton of the text input window)

@joantabb

The filament is being sticked to the hotend while printing. But when I low the Live Z it only get stuck in a dangerous level, not the right one.

@inf-95

Wash the bed about 2 minutes with dishsoap and warm water. dry it with a lint free towel and do a final cleaning with isopropanol (99.9%).

If you have further problems i would prefer to dissasemble the hotend, clean it and make sure that the nozzle seals against the heat break after assembly.

Clean bed is very important!

Clean bed with dish soap 2 or 3 times, then it will stick again.

Also first layer is important, adjust this, normally users are not low enough.

Search on youtube for movie someone made for first layer calibration, but with settings to high , to to low, then you can see how it works.(grey filament in picture)

Hi, I cleaned the bed with dish soap, and while starting to print the first layer calibration, my Prusa detected a crash error, but immediately started to print properly!! So I don't know exactly if it was because the cleaning or whatever... But, I want to think it was! So, THANK YOU everybody.
