Extruder warped and cracked MK3

I've been having issues with my hot-end clogging lately. I cleared the latest and replaced the PTFE tube. Put everything back together and it seemed fine. Did a small test print with no problem. I then set it to do a longer print; after a couple of hours, I came back down to find that the print had failed, the nozzle appeared clogged again, and worse, the whole extruder seemed to have warped and cracked. As you can see in the photos, the fan shroud is a little melted, the sensor is pushed at some weird angle and the hot end no longer seems in place.

Looking for suggestions. Does it even make sense to fix this, or should I just upgrade to the MK3/S extruder? It seems like I'll be out of commission for a long wait on parts there. Also, the upgrade kit seems to require a working printer to make some of the plastic parts; does anyone have a suggestion for that?

Hello and welcome here in the Prusaforum,

do you print in an enclosure?
Because of the blockage a heat accumulation developed, the hotend became too hot and finally melted the surrounding plastic parts. Possibly the extruder motor was also overheated. It is also possible that the thermistor slipped out of the bore a little and thus gave false measurement results. Maybe a wrong mounted extruderfan??

here an interesting article: https://help.prusa3d.com/cs/article/extrusion-stopped-mid-print_5656

Interesting... not printing in an enclosure, and the extruder fan is pushing the right direction, but the others are possible.

Now just need to find a fix! I guess a new extruder would change most of the pieces mentioned in that article.
