Extruder make sounds with nozzle X E3D V6 0.4 mm

Hi @all

Maybe its just a bad timing but after change the nozzle to nozzle X E3D V6 0.4 mm the Prints start to get bad after printing a randoom hight.

The extruder starts zu grind the filament and cant extrude anymore.

The temp is correct while checking when the extruder makes the sound.

But why not in the beginning.

Its starts after 29 layer.

My suspicion is that the new nozzle needs a bit more temp??

Or is there another problem what i dont know?

Any hints or suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the first layer Z Calibration is off. You did calibrate after you changed the nozzle?

The first layer is perfect.

The issue is not every time.

This time it’s starts after after 29 layer

so I guess it’s not the Z calibration

I suspect @thomas-lynch is on the right lines.

Please show us a picture of the bottom of a failed print.

Cheerio,

Good morning this ist the first layer.

I can’t see any first layer issues.

I will recalibrate the first layer and will check next print.

Any advises ?

thanks in advance

Not a bad first layer, it might stand the tiniest bit more squish but there are only very small areas where warping lift off might be beginning.  There are a few marks that suggest you have fingerprints on your build sheet so cleaning them off is in order.

What material are you printing, at which layer height, with which fill pattern at what percentage?

Cheerio,

Most at time for bigger projects i use Prusament.

Standard settings normaly it works with no problem.

today i made a new z calibration .

Cheerio,

The only different is the new nozzle so :

The suspicious nozzle need maybe mor temp?

Nozzle x generally need 5-10 degrees more temp (I use them almost all the time).  I had all sorts of trouble with prusament mystic colours until I upped the temp further.  I print those filaments at 230.

What filament are you running?

do you have a picture of the nozzle as it is installed now in the block?

If i had to guess, I would guess you are printing PLA, If so my guess is all of the retractions are heat treating the tip of the PLA which makes it hard and resistant to melting. Which is causing the grinding.

If you are printing another type of filament i'm not as sure. PLA will heat treat and once heated and cooled it becomes much harder.

If it is PLA, the next time it happens, immediately do a change filament command in the tune menu and cut the tip off of the pla and see if it feeds without grinding again. If that fixes is lower your fan speed, get a silicon sock and/or raise temps to 230 or so.
