Extruder Jam after changing a new hotend
Hi, would like to seek advice from anyone who may have encounter a similar problem.
I have trying to get a successful print for quite some time. My mk3 has been plagued by extruder jams which led me to change the stepper motor (stepper motor was running hot) and the hotend. I have cleared quite a number of jams already and I observed that the filament always get stuck at the area of the heat sink and ptfe tube.
I'm feeling a bit frustrated and not sure what i should do next. 😥 Could it be the noctua fan - should i change the nortua fan out for a new one?
I have to fix this first before i can even attempt to print with my MMU2.
Re: Extruder Jam after changing a new hotend
Hi Yang Liang,
what filament are you using?
what extruder temperature?
which slicer?
how warm is your room?
if it's very warm, you might not be cooling the heatsink on the cold end enough
are you using long retraction
I only use 0.6mm retraction with the standard nozzle for PLA, if my model has a lot of detail, I found that 0.8mm retraction could cause jamming above the nozzle

Re: Extruder Jam after changing a new hotend
Thanks Joan 🙂
I'm using the green filament from Prusa store with hotend temperature of 210 degree celsius.
Slic3r Prusa Edition
Room temperature at about 28-30 degrees celsius
Extraction length at 0.8mm. I will try 0.6mm and see how it goes.

Good luck,
room temperature doesn't seem excessive.
