Extruder Fan RPM

We have an issue with our extruderon our MK3S+ not getting to temperature fast enough. The fan on the left side of the extruder head seems to be running at too high rpm (4300rpm). Therefore it takes the extruder approx 8mins to get to temperature. We compared this to our 2nd MKS+ for reference points, so we know something of wrong. We reset and updated firmware, replaced fan, replaced extruder, and temperature sensor, no change. Votages seem to be correct. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Extruder Fan RPM

My recollection is that Prusa says the max fan speed for both fans is 4,200 so you are not far off.  There is also no user control that I am aware to adjust the extruder fan. Having said all that, my guess is that is not the fan speed that is causing the problem.

I would check the heater connections to make sure that all are in good shape. Look for signs of overheating and physically check the screws are snug. There have been a few printers where either a screw was loose or the crimp on a connector was bad and the result was overheating and severe damage!

If all else fails, contact Prusa via chat for help.

RE: Extruder Fan RPM

Thanks @jwvaughn for you reply. The second printer we have runs left fan at around 1000rpm less (3300rpm) and it gets the extruder head up to temp in approx. 1min. All cables and voltages have been checked, major component involved also replaced. We will continue to investigate. Thanks again for your reply.
