Exclamation point next to gcode filename on LCD display

This is something I only just noticed and it is very hard to catch. While printing, I noticed every now and again during a print that an exclamation point (bang symbol) appears a few characters after the name of the gcode file on the LCD screen. The printer doesn't stop and there are no apparent issues affecting the quality.

Does anyone know why this character appears and disappears?

Crimsus, this is caused by line noise on the cable that goes from the einsy to the LCD driver behind the screen. I see it too (and other odd ANSI chars) and have been told it is harmless. After countless hours of prints with these chars coming and going, I have never had a failed print or corrupt GCode data being read from the SD Card.

I don't think this is spurious noise. I think there is a string length error in the filename print. Today I saw "SD 9" tacked on the end which mirrored the beginning of a line above. Spurious noise would not likely duplicate valid information.

As it is simply a display issue, I don't see it as a big problem, but it appears to me to be a bug.

I've raised it as an issue on github:
