Err: MINTEMP

Hi,

I wasn't sure where to post this, but thought this looked like the best place.

Let me start by saying I am a big Prusa supporter, I love the products and am a real fanboy. In no way am I a hater.

During this COVID crisis, my 2 machines have really been put to the test. They haven't stopped printing since the beginning. This is a lot to ask for from a hobby machine, but they really have been doing well.

This morning I had an err: mintemp. I looked into it and found that the hot end thermistor wire had snagged on a print and snapped at the joint. I expected this kind of issue with the abuse the machines are getting. So I flipped it over to remove the heat shrink and make repairs. At this point I was quite shocked to see the quality of the solder joint. These are premium products and I would have expected better. I'm not going to check the other joints but am a little worried they'll be equally as bad.

I have since resoldered and heat shrunk the joint, I've also added an extra cable tie to ensure the wires are as tight to the machine as safely possible. Just wanted to feed this back. The Prusa product is great, but I think the ball was dropped here.

Apologies, upside down - Thermistor wire snapped

Thermistor wire without insulation. Note only a tiny blob of solder on the connecting wire

completed repair (I forgot to take a picture of the finished job, DOH!)
