End of filament roll always gets stuck

Hi all,

every time my filamant roll get empty mid print, the last bit (a bend piece) of the filament gets stuck in the upper part of the ptft tube  of the extruder. In such a way that the small bent piece just sticks out of there but not far enough to grab with a plier. How can i stop the last piece of entering the extruder all together??

Thank you! I have to buy yet another tube every time again...

Some brands of filament unfortunately have crooked ends, unlike Prusament or Overture. Best thing you can do is to be ready and when you can see the end, take cutters and trim it off.

Hi and thank you for your answer!

I don't use anything else than Prusament.  I only want to print without hassle and so i buy Prusament. That works perfect untill this last little bit of filament. Did anybody ever try to move the filament sensor up or use a second sensor? I'll go and look for this option too ...

My printer is in my barn outside and i do not always have time to see how far the print has proceeded nor to see if the filament is almost empty...

Any other ideas?

If you’re going to run a long print, change to a new roll of filament before you start.

Pay attention to how much material is used for the models you print and try to judge when your filament roll is borderline for completing a given print.

You may end up with several partial rolls of filament that you can then use for smaller prints or for when you can spend some time monitoring a print more closely.

Just a thought…

Cheers
