double spool holder stl

I got my mk3 pre assembled ( im to visually impaired to do that)
and it has this nice double spool holder as shown below
I can not find the stl file for this one, only the single one

as you can guess I want to attach one more to the top for more easy filament swapping.

any help appreciated

Re: double spool holder stl

I believe that spool holder is not 3D printed. (my printer came with a different holder)

I’ve been using a couple sets of these on my printer: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1832235 and I like them, I’m not sure if there’s enough space up there for 3 spools though.

Hi Patrick,

Why not put a broom handle across some brackets, on the wall, and hang your reels there

Prusa need to make a larger FDM printer before I can get the broom handle to fit (on the printer).

@ joan
because I like to have the printer "portable"
I do quite a lot of multi color prints ( Layer wise) and being able to have four rolls close would be great
thought the dual holder is great by all means anyways

May I suggest you simply print the standard Prusa spool holder mirrored? I did this and it’s worked brilliantly for a year now.

Ignore the MMU2 that’s just hanging out there until I can be bothered to try and get it working.

hehe, yes, its a solution

even if the original can be disassembled, this would do fine

Asked in the fb group and someone send me his files, due to my forum stats I can't post or send directly the files, but I share the links here

Brilliant, 😯 never see that kind of mounting, what's the difference between this kind of mounting and the asked one? (totally new in 3d print world)

Okay since I read bad user experience about the arm like spool holders, I'm finally leaving for the one you suggest ☺️

Where's the original stl?

I'm looking for the original stl for the double spool holder too.  I find it odd that I can find all the spare parts for my MK3S+ as stl but not that holder.

The reason I want it is for the bayonet fitting.  I've put my MK3S+ in a wardrobe on a table and using it as a type of enclosure.  Above the printer is a clothes rail, which I'd like to hang filament spools from and use directly.  My thinking is that using that bayonet fitting and a printed rod, I can create spool hooks and then just pop them on / off the rail as if they were clothes.  It needs to be solid though, so I'm thinking of a hook arm on either end of the rod.

Anyone point me at an easy fitting for a spool rod that I can mod with some hooks?

The reason you cant find it is that it doesn't exist.  At least as a printable part.  The specific one you want is an injection moulded part and NOT printed in prusa's print farms.  As such the stl file has never been available.  There might be files someone has made on the usual sites like thingiverse or the prusa prints site but they would not be official ones.

I just wanted to call this out as a brilliant solution. You can add a 2nd spool when and only if you need to, so it's not cumbersome for single-spool printing. It uses an easy-to-print design. Very resourceful, sir!

Thanks - it didn't dawn on me.  I knew they were moving over for volume.  Okay - I'll find the time and make something similar, it's a basic shape, so shouldn't be too hard.
