Dead area
Hi
I have suddenly started having issues with my 3S refusing to print over a certain area of the plate. Basically, the print head reacts as usual and traces over this area as per normal, but it stops extruding - gradual as though it is run out of filament. Happens in the same area (grid 5-10/5-10 roughly) and on all layers. Tried different prints, tried multiple times. Tried different filaments. Cleaned and repositioned the plate. Same problem and only in that area
If I move the print away from this area on PrusaSlicer and reslice then print, it works fine.
Its a though the printer refuses to extrude to that area.
Any ideas ?

Have you tried slicing an STL in a different version of PrusaSlicer? It would at least rule that out as the cause as it is a rather odd problem!
Also have you checked if, when it's printing, whether the wires are getting pulled too tight for some reason when in that grid space?
The only 2 things I can think of is a problem when it is sliced, or if the extruder looses power when in that grid space (eg a wire is getting pulled too tight and has either broken in side it's sheath or a connector is pulling loose but gets pushed back in when it moves elsewhere.)

I will give the Slicer a try. The area is probably the least pull on the wires though as it is left hand side.

Test print . Tried moving the wire bundle etc bit it makes not difference. Would have thought that a loose connection or broken wire would have a band across the Y access and not just this one spot.
This is a new Spool of filament and is free moving (not jamming).

Same print object. Same Slicer (tried to install an earlier version but get a compatibility error). Different area of the print bed.

Does the extruder motor turn while trying to print there?
It looks as if the nozzle is too close to the bed in the dead spot, have you inspected the bed to see if you can see a bump/warp in it at that point?

FIXED !!!
A tiny piece of black filament fragment between the plate and heatpad was the cause.

Here's a question. When this was happening did the extruder 'double-tap' when checking areas close to that where the filament remnant was trapped during the bed leveling?
I've learned to check for items stuck under the build plate if it starts to double-tap consistently in one section at the start of the print, and indeed I've found that a stray worm of filament was trapped.

No difference at all when checking. The tiny piece of filament was away from the edge so hadn't raised the plate by enough to effect the bed check.
