Constant Y crashes detected

When printing parts I sometimes suddenly got y crash detected when printing the first layer it came out of nowhere and didn’t think much of it and now I printed something else and got a few y crashes in the middle of the part where I can see layer lines of pauses the print is in the middle of the bed and the bed doesn’t hit the wall behind it only when fully back the cable touches the wall but on this print the bed isn’t all the way back more info or pics could be provided if needed

RE: Constant Y crashes detected

Is printer in enclosure? Had exact same problem inside diy enclosure, it went away when I remove it.

You already know that the bed must be free to move over the whole range ... that includes not allowing the cable bundle to touch the wall.  What does you printer's log say about crashes?

With the power off, move the axis by hand; is it smooth? Does the resistance stay the same over the whole range?

Clean and lubricate the smooth rods, check they are not damaged/scratched. Check the idler pulley is not clogged, out of line, or damaged (loosen the belt and try turning it with your fingertip, is it smooth?)

With the belt loose try turning the stepper motor by hand; is it smooth?

We can't diagnose unless you provide the answers:

Try turning the idler pulley with your fingertip, is it smooth?

With the belt loose try turning the stepper motor by hand; you should fel the gentle bumps of the steps but no grating; is it smooth?

Everything is smooth and if by log you mean the total print faillures is 5 power which all were me accidentally pulling plug 11 fil runouts 22 x crashes and 83 y

here is a pick of the print finished after the crashes

Im now nearly done with this print it on the 5th try now no errors might be something with specific gcodes of mine that fail a lot depending on shape and place but I hope it finishes

OK, the unbalance suggests there has been an issue with the Y axis, we know that it has been hitting the wall so that might account for some of them ... but if all the movements are smooth then we look at the belts, print this:  https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/46639-tension-meter-for-the-gt2-belts-of-i3-mk3s-or-prus

It MUST be printed in Prusament PETG or the spring tension will be wrong.

Let us know how you get on.

I could try tomorrow cause need to dry petg but tensions are x 252 and y260

The belt tension figure is a measure of the resistance felt by the stepper when moving the axis. On a correctly set up machine this does equate, roughly, to belt tension.

But other things can affect mechanical resistance.

This is a cross check.
