clogging issue
Hi, I've been having some difficulty with my printer lately. I was getting outstanding success with my prints using PLA until, I tried using ABS. The filament had got wound on something causing no filament to feed through. Unfortunately the filament sensor was not on by default so my printer try to continue print until I came back to my printer and stopped the print. The extruder motor had been extremely hot and their were ABS shavings everywhere. After that, I decided to go back to PLA and all prints failed from clogs. I've tried following the prusa page about preventing mid-clogs with no help. I think what is happening is the filament is getting too warm and becoming soft. This causes the extruder gears to saw noches into the filament, loosing contact with the filament. This gives nothing for the extuder gears to push through the printer. Could my motor be damaged and getting to hot causing to warm up the filament? Or maybe the filament is too cold and the motor is trying to push cold filament? I have tryed numerous things without success. I tryed loosening the clamp on the extruder. I tried lowering the extruder temp. I tried cooling the motor with a heat sink. I am completely at a lose here and would appreciate any help.
I have also noticed mid way in printing that the printer stops printing for a second in intervals and says it it heating up. I don't know why this happens but, seems it dos this when it starts to fail.

I think that any of the cables to the extruder (or heatbed) is damaged so that the temperature drops. Have you looked at the temperatures of the nozzle and the heat bed to see how they behave?

Re: clogging issue
Wow, would have never thought of that. I opened the box where all the cables go in the circuit board and sorta poked around trying to push the wires of the extruder and heat bed. Neither seemed loose but, my printer is printing just fine now 😉 . Maybe the wires were loose or something. Thanks for the insight.
