Clicking noise, underextrusion

Hello

Prusa i3 Mk3s+

I've used some cheap PLA filament and problems started occuring. I've succesfuly made one print, but on second, at some point, clicking noise started occuring, there was underextrusion or no extrusion at all. I've loaded higher quality filament - same problem. I've loaded PETG and increased temperature to 230 and it was fine, but PLA still didn't work.

I've replaced the nozzle, loaded proper filament and it was working fine, but after some time, the same problem started - clicking noise, gears were not able to pull the filament. I've raised temperature from 200 to 220 and it started working.

Seems like there is some PLA stuck in some other part than nozzle and higher temperature melts it away? I'm not quite sure.

Any ideas on what to look for?

You probably need to adjust the extruder idler pressure, the screw at step 39 in this page:

And it may help to read:

RE: Clicking noise, underextrusion

Either that or the pla is of a higher temperature type and the cheap manufacturer hasnt updated the details.  Many of the pla filaments available at the moment print in the 220-230 range.

Once you get your extruder tension sorted its probably worth doing a temp tower to figure out the temperature the filament needs.
