Calibration stuck in loop

My son and I just finished building the kit and are going through the calibration portion.  Initially we did the Wizard setup and after the self test it would reset to the home screen and ask if I wanted to use the Wizard to setup.  I just went to the manual steps through the calibration screen, Selftest and Calibrate XYZ.  Everything went well.  I moved on to the First Layer Calibration and when ever it starts to heat the bed the machine restarts to the startup screen and says distance between bed and nozzle has not yet been set and to do the First Layer Calibration.  It is stuck in that loop.  Firmware is the latest, 3.11.0, and I have restarted a couple of times but keep going into that loop when doing the FLC.  When I do the manual hotbed preheat it kick back to the startup screen as well.  I guess I could try to reinstall the firmware, but would like to know if this is a known issue and if there is a fix prior to wiping and starting over.  Thanks.

Sounds like you have a short somewhere.  As it resets when it starts heating then it will be in whatever wires/heating element its turning on.

Use the lcd to heat just the bed and see if it resets, then try heating just the extruder.  Whichever one causes a reset is the problem one.  It wont be firmware.

I went back and looked closer at what it was doing during the self test and other calibration processes.  When it goes to heat the hotEND the system resets.  The hotBED tests fine.  I rechecked the connections for the hotend heater and thermistor, both are set in the connectors, and replaced the fuse for the hotend with the same results.

The hotend heater element is defective and Prusa is sending a new one, so I got that going for me.
