That's good, I told CS that it was missing and they told the upper powers that be.

BTW, i am working on a SolidWorks version of the MK3, and I will probably post the STEP files on thingiverse or Github, if I am allowed to do that.
since the OpenSCAD files have the values, I should be able to easily reverse engineer them!

Neat, I had been thinking about doing the same thing. I would stick with Github and make it a fork, just make sure to include the same license https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/blob/MK3/LICENSE .

I have converted most of the printed parts into STEP format and posted them on Github.

Unfortunately, some of the OpenSCAD files I was unable to convert using freeCAD. If someone wants to attempt to fix them that would be much appreciated.
Also, two of the OpenSCAD files are actually incorrect, ('x-end-idler.scad' and 'x-end-motor.scad') I have posted a picture of what I mean, so PR might want to fix that.

- x-end-idler.scad (broken)
- x-end-motor.scad (broken)
- z-axis-top.scad

I am working on a SolidWorks Assembly, so I will post a copy of that in "pack and go" format once I finish it.

What a mess some SCAD and STL files are. Currently (when I feel like it) I am redrawing the extruder body natively in Alibre Design, based on the an imported STEP geometry. Not quite there yet:

Looks Great Guys!

I would want the .step files as well to use in Solidworks. GrabCAD is a great source for Solidworks files and more. STL files are not used to design from or modify.

Need to do a Solidworks Pack & Go zip file or file ZIP of all the .step parts so the can get one BIG single download instead of all separate Github files taking hours.

Cannot load a file but just code for the DXF....not good.

Need a .dxf intact file to use.

Had the same problem with SCAD files in FreeCAD, un-comment the version number helped to convert them!
Just the Einsy-base is a bit.h

Yes, removing the version number helped for the x-end-motor, but not for the x-end-idler.
I somewhere read that reducing face numbers and making them divisible by 8 might help... so $fn=24 or 32 might be worth a try.

Can't you just use the STl Files ? or is there more information in the parts going SCAD -> STEP -> SWX instead of going STL -> SWX (or STL -> SWX -> STEP ->
SWX)?

STL files contain an triangulated mesh which is mostly worthless for further CAD work. In Alibre, I can just view those, but not connect constraints for assemblies or project geometries. Alibre inherited an STL importer from Geomagic, which sometimes works and at least results in selectable geometries. For most parts however, you need at least step or iges. Freecad can load SCAD (openscad is installed) and export step, but some models like the x-end-idler seem to be... corrupted? difficult? I saw the mid-tier Solidworks license ($5.5k) also has an STL importer IIRC.

BTW attachements of anything else than jpg images don't seem to work here.

... i know about the triangles... I use Solidworks Professionell at work.

The DXF's are intact, you should try downloading the repo as a zip, GitHub makes it a little weird to download individual files.

I have converted both the x-end-idler and x-end-motor to STEP. The reason it wasn't originally working was that I had the bearing.scad file in another folder, so the parent modules all failed...

If I get the Einsy Base, then I will have a completed Assembly by the end of today.
