Buzzing sound of filament fan at 50%

Here's the issue: The provided profiles for PETG let the filament fan run at 50% after the first three layers.

However, this makes the fan create a very annoying buzzing sound which is quite loud to boot. The normally quiet printer can now be heard through a closed door.

Support told me that this is "normal" and due to controlling the fan speed via PWM. And promptly told me to "play with the settings" because some percentages might yield a less annoying sound. He didn't tell me what those percentages are, however.

Anyone else run into this and maybe already have some values which are less of a literal headache?

I have this too, on two printers.

I could not get the Radial PWM 5V anywhere else, so it's most likely something that Prusa ordered custom made in a china shop somewhere.
The 5V Radial Fan is also weaker than the 12V fan on the MK2, same settings on MK2 and MK3 result in some broken overhangs on the MK3, MK2 prints look fine.

It just whines at every speed below 70%

It's on my to do list to scout a replacement one on Aliexpress for this thing.

It’s not a PWM FAN... just a 5v fan with rpm sense wire. True PWM fans have four wires. Our fan is speed controlled via PWM modulation of the power wires going to the fan.

Yes you made your point clear that the tach signal fans are not PWM.
It's just used to PWM control the Fan

An audible change is normal, but this sounds extreme. I'd try adjusting fan speeds +/- 5% to see if it helps. You may have just used a setting that resonates with other parts to amplify the sound.

I get audible noises or clicks with the heated bed at some settings for the same reason.
