Burned heatbed cable... please help 🙁

Hello... My MK3 had been working fine for few days until I found smoke coming out of the electronics box..

I immediately stopped the print and checked the electronic box to find out that the heat bed cable was burned.

As you can see in the image, (+) end of heat bed cable is burned.

Heat bed is currently working despite the burn, but red light was blinking in the blue circle of the attached image.

I am completely new to electrical boards so I would appreciate it if you guys can answer some of my questions...

1. What could have caused the problem?
2. Can I keep using the cable like that? or should I replace it?
3. What does the blinking red light mean?

Thank you in advance... :''(

Nope don't keep using it, need to order some new ones and you need to check a few other places too.

Joints fail like this generally for one reason - not tight enough causing a high resistance. You could make sure though that the heated bed cables haven't been crimped or pinched in the bed connector which is surprisingly easy to do so it 'may' be an intermittent short of some kind but I'd expect that to take out the fuse. If you look at the connection that is 'burned' you can see that the spade isn't properly underneath the screw - it is at an angle so the contact area isn't what it should be.

Pull the connector cover off the heated bed and check the cables there too.

Either way once burned like this connectors should not be re-used - I'd be sure to check the board/PCB too to make sure that isn't burned to badly since that was hot enough to blue/blacken the screw it got pretty hot.

Definitely don't use it right now!
Replace the whole cable. You might have a shortage somewhere.

I can't see the blue circle that you mention, but the Blinking red light normally means that the controller board is controlling the temperature by switching the power on and off

Think the screw was loose or under-tightened, It generates an electric resistance and heat up the cable.
