broken wire

A print came loose from the plate and when I pried away the resulting plastic-blob-from-hell from the extruder, a wire got caught and torn off. I'm pretty sure it is the extruder thermistor wire.

My question is basically what my best course of action is. Is it ok to strip the black part of the wire (the part going to the controller) a little so I can connect the white part (the short part going the the extruder) again? Or do I need to replace the entire wire? What type of wire do I need? I assume it needs to withstand a bit of heat.

To fully replace the wire it looks like I would need to completely disassemble the print head which I'd really prefer not to...

Any suggestions?

Re: broken wire

This is the Thermistor. I had the same issue. I could not get the screws to come out so I replaced the whole hotend. You may have better luck. Good luck.

I did have to completely disassemble even to try to remove the thermistor.

I see. You mean the screws connecting the wire to the hotend? I'm thinking since that part is actually still connected I just need to splice the white/black wire parts together. Maybe i'll give it a try.

Re: broken wire

I had to removed the plastic parts and remove the hotend to take it appears. I ended up replacing the whole thing. The wire to the thermister broke and I could nto get the set screw out. Heck, I could not get the button screw out that holds the heater in. Neither would turn even when heated.
