Brightness Control in Firmware
Hello,
We have three machines at work (1) MK3 upgraded to MK3S, and (2) MK3S.
Updating the firmware today with prusa3d_fw_MK3S_ 3_9_0_3421.hex (downloaded from the Official Driver page) results in the Brightness menu under Settings for the two original MK3S machines, but not for the orignal MK3 that was upgraded to MK3S.
My personal MK3 that was upgraded to MK3S shows the same result.
Anyone else experience the same?
Is this a feature, something known and being worked on, or ?
Thanks!
RE: Brightness Control in Firmware
The newer display boards have additional circuitry that enables this feature. Depending on the vintage of your original Mk3s, your original LCD displays most likely aren't capable of supporting this feature. I replaced the LCD display on my Mk3 after a failure and was surprised that the feature worked with no further intervention.
If you search about here for posts by @vintagepc, he has instructions for modifying the older boards to enable this feature. It requires a bit of soldering IIRC, but isn't overly complicated. Otherwise, a replacement board can be found for $20-25 in the US.
