Bondtech gears not catching
Hello everyone,
I recently got a spool of filament from my robotics team to print some parts. It is not prusa filament. When I try to load it, the bondtech gears do not pull it into the hotend. The nozzle is not clogged, as the filament never even reaches the nozzle. I have tried tightening and loosening the tension on the extruder idler, but this has done nothing.
Any help is appreciated
Re: Bondtech gears not catching
I've printed many different filaments and have yet to find one that is somehow compromised against feeding.
Obvious questions:
Is it really the right type of filament for the nozzle temp you are running? e.g., PLA temps, ABS filament.
Is it a flex filament? i.e., rubbery stuff that requires special handling.
Re: Bondtech gears not catching
I'm using PETG and I'm running it at 260. I think it might be clogged as it always stops at the same place. Going to look into it tomorrow.
Re: Bondtech gears not catching
If you've ever had a clogged nozzle and had the gears grind up filament, the debris falls down the PTFE tube and will clog up in the heat sink and heat break.; even clogs in the PTFE aren't unheard of. Lots of filament dust inside the idler door is a clue.
Re: Bondtech gears not catching
I got it figured out. The filament wouldn't push into the PTFE tube so I just shaved some of the filament off the spool and it went through.
