Blobbing Disaster --> Ruined wires. Next steps?
Hi,
Every so often I encounter printer issues and I always have gone back and worked through them. This is the first one where I just don't really know what to do next.
I had a longer print running and it ended up doing the doom blob where it just kind of encased everything from the extruder to the back wires. I turned the heat on and got it off the front part but I ended up having to get a heat gun to get it off the back with the wires. When I uncovered the wires, though, some are exposed and one in particular is frail and broken off. What is the next step? Do I order new wires and somehow rewire everything? Do I just order some wire and try to replace the part that is broken off somehow and cover it up with one of those heat shrink tubes? I like 3d printing but I'm far from an electrician and feel kind of clueless here... Would appreciate thoughts. Thanks.

If you can get all the plastic off the hot end you can replace both the heating element and the thermister. Just order them or pick them up from whoever you get your supplies. Both are held in place with set screws which are a bit hard to see unless you have the hot end out of the machine. Of course you only need to replace the parts that are damaged. Good luck.
