Re: Blips in Temperature - Not seen before Fireware 3.5.0

I checked the filke: in layer 4 the fan starts (M106) and only at the end of file the fan is turned off again (M107). The 2(!) dips I saw were definitely in the second half of the print, and there definitely is NO fan-command there.

I also experienced a slight dip when the fan starts, but that ist maximum 5°C, the dips we are speaking here are 10°C or more.

Here you can inspect the gcode on your own. But be careful with printing: The material ist a somewhat uncommon Extrudr Greentec PRO, therefore the temps might be quite off for you.

Same here....

Thankfully printing with relatively forgiving PETG.

I'm seeing same thing, dips in image are around 10 C

more posts on here with pix would probably up the priority

Rechecked all cable connections. This really looks like a firmware fault.

Re: Blips in Temperature - Not seen before Fireware 3.5.0

I am definitely noticing this, not sure if it is the same issue, but my prints will also stall on Heating... and it resets target temp to 0. If I go in and tune it back to the temp I want, it will reset back to 0 in a few seconds before ever heating all the way up.

Next time it happened I was given a print fan error, and print fan was showing 0. I manually changed to 255 and disabled fan check to finish the print so the filament wasn't wasted since it was in the middle of a 900g print. Self test afterward revealed no issues.

Same here.
Also I sometimes get temperature runaway error that I did not get before.

For the new-comers among us, how much of an impact might this sort of deviation have on print quality? It looks like a very brief, minor fluctuation, but I'm brand-new to 3d printing, so am still getting an understanding of what's significant and what isn't.

Depends on how far the temperature deviates.
I have the same small blips as the others here.
On rare occasions, however, there is a HUGE dip.

I got tired of the nonsense and reverted to firmware 3.3.1 and everything is perfect again.

For me sometimes the printer just stops with HEATING messaage for a few seconds. Then continue.
This results in large blobs and zits on the print.

I'm seeing this as well with "Firmware 3.5.1 with 1193 merge MK3".

I'm seeing this as well in my octoprint temp graph. Didn't see it with 3.4.1.

Re: Blips in Temperature - Not seen before Fireware 3.5.0

Didn't have the printer for previous versions, but running current firmware on a kit dated mid December 2018, I've seen these little dips on every print i've monitored with octoprint. I've calibrated the PID and the bed temperature a few times, and haven't seen the same reflected on the front panel (though the glitch would be tough to catch), but in the graphs it's obvious. Also only seems to effect the hotend, never seen a similar drop in heated bed temperature... though given the thermal mass of the heated bed, it could be occurring there and just not registering because of how quickly it recovers. It's also never more than 8C or so, never seen the big drops (though at least in some of the previous pictures, octoprint is also reporting that the set temperature is off when the big drops happen).
