Bed sheet damage

So I received my Prusa mk3s a while ago and started using it two weeks ago . It’s my first printer & I am so happy with it . However, yesterday I wanted to test printing flixable filament ( TPU ) and the print stuck to my smooth bed that I could not take it off. So I tried the scraper with minimum luck then I sprayed a lot of isopropyl alcohol and tried to pull it and finally it came off, but unfortunately a part of the sheet came off too (see the image) as it was stuck to the TPU print and now I have a damaged sheet 🙁

The TPU was from Overture, i used the Sainsmart TPU profile in Prusa slicer and changed the bed temp to 60, and the novel to 240 .

How to avoid doing this again? is there a way to fix it ? Can I still print on the other side or there might be a problem? I ordered new sheets but since I am overseas it will take a time till it reaches me & I want to continue printing now.

Any help is appreciated!

RE: Bed sheet damage

As you have noticed, TPU adheres very well to the build plates.

Prusa used to supply a glue stick to reduce the adhesion for both PETG and TPE/TPU
alternatives include
Windex wiped on in a thin layer and allowed to dry,
Talcum powder rubbed in well and all loose material dusted off,
Hairspray, sprayed on and allowed to dry,
finger grease rubbed over the build area,
all of these reduce the adhesion  and allow more convenient removal of prints

the other side of your build plate should be ok to print on.

@joantabb

Thank you so much for your help, I will try your tricks in printing next time. Does TPU and PETG admire to the textured sheet the same as the smooth one?

RE: Bed sheet damage

Hi Lamita
I generally print PETG straight onto the textured or silk build plate,
for TPU/TPE I use a barrier similar to when I use the smooth sheet.

@lamita

i usually print on the textured sheet only. Cleaning with soap or isopropanol (use enough isopropanol  to wipe of any grease) before printing PLA and cleaning with WindowCleaning (german: Sidolin Streifenfrei Zitrus) when printing PETG, TPU, filaflex and ABS.

never had any sheet damages or early liftoffs ..
