Bed leveling fails on MK3

Hello

I have a MK3 kit which i assembled and the calibration was perfect at the first try, have been printing with it for a month and only had issues which the firmware update solved. Now all of a sudden, the bed level calibration fails everytime i want to print.

To be precise when it starts to measure it doesn't even seem to detect the build plate. It actually runs in it, and does so for the first 3 to 4 points until it says "bed leveling failed, Sensor didn't trigger. debris on nozzle?", i cleaned the nozzle but it didn't help.

Does anyone have another idea how i could fix my problem?

Re: Bed leveling fails on MK3

Check the operation of your PINDA probe. The inbuilt LED (visible where the cable enters the threaded body) should be on all the time until it its triggered, which turns off the LED. Move your Z axis up so you have 20mm or more clearance between the bed and nozzle.

Is the PINDA LED on? It should be.

Now move something metal (pliers will do) underneath the end of the PINDA and raise it until it touches the plastic PINDA endcap. The LED should have gone out when your metal object was within 2-4mm of the PINDA endcap.

If your PINDA does not operate as above then it is faulty and it is why your printer can no longer detect the bed. You will need to order a replacement from Prusa,

One other thing you can try.

Run both z motors all the way to the top until you hear them chatter - just like you do when you calibrate z. This will eliminate a difference in height along the x axis as a possible cause.

Hey thanks both of you!

I tried both, i checked the pinda probe as you said and it seemed to be working but it hit the print surface before it would respond.
So i wanted to put it a bit lower and noticed it was completely loose...

I fixed that and ran the calibration again and everything works fine again.

Thanks a lot! This is a lessons learned for me 🙄
I'll check that screw more often from now on!
