Bed leveling failed. Sensor didnt trigger

Hi,

The printer used to work just fine until someday while initiating a print this message shows up (see picture attached).

Currently, I know what the cause is but I don't know how to fix it.

The printer z-axis has it's 0 - point all of a sudden about 80mm above the plate surface. I don't know how this happened but the motors seem to turn fine. So basically when he wants to do the homing on the player he doesn't get all the way down until the sensor senses the plate as expected. He throws the message because he was expecting the sensor to signal around a specific height range.

I tried to do the z-calibration but it doesn't work as he simply throws the same message when he performs it.

How can I readjust the real height of the nozzle / z-axis, if I cannot do it by z-calibration or xyz calibration nor wizard?

Thanks in advance

As you can see in the following picture, the z-axis indicates 0.0 mm above the plater, but in the background, you can see the actual nozzle which is far above the plater.

have you checked the PINDA responds to metal (does the LED go out when the metal is near the end of the Pinda?   does the Sensor display on the LCD Change when the metal is near the tip of the Pinda?

Does Autohome work?

Thanks for your reply Joan,

Yes, the PINDA does respond to metal. The problem is that it never reaches the surface of the plater to be actually activated since the "expected" reference point of the z-axis is way above the surface than it should be.

Auto home doesn't work either because the printer throughs the same message when trying to sense the plater.

Hi Daniel,

I suspect that the Pinda connection to the controller board is faulty.

did you check the LCD Display of the sensor status?

does wiggling the cable bundle behind the extruder cause a change in the display?

regards Joan

I finally fixed it. I lubricated the guides. It seems that there was too much resistance on the guides which created an unusual offset in the z-axis.

I ran the whole setup wizard afterward, and now it seems to work just fine.
