Axis Calibration Midprint

Hello everyone,

A fast one,

While printing Polymax-PC a big item (it is printing as we speak) I noticed that every few layers the printer stops to recalibrade the Y-X axis and then continues the printing.

Any idea why? Other than this the print is progressing and printing perfectly for the time beeing.

Thanks

Usually he does this if he loses position due to stiff axes or a crash with the printpart. Did you activate crash detection? PC tends to warping. Lifting the corners can cause a crash.

I think you are right. I can see the left side of the print that has warped. can this be avoided?

Print in an enlosure (temp. about 40degree C.); switch off the nozzle fan; use glue like magigoo and a brim; reduce printing speed.

Thanks,

Any idea what printing surface and with what config does it work best for polymax?

I have both PEI and steel but never managed to print anything on the steel coated one since nothing seems to stick.

Also i had the nozzle fan at 15% since this would provide a better finish but now i know its a mistake for larger prints due to warping.

Finally i will also use a brim.

@koutso-k

polymax PC adheres best to the textured plate with adhesive such as dimafix or magigoo.
However, I would strongly advise against using polymac pc, as the components will crack or break after a short time due to heat, UV radiation and dynamic movements:
