Auto Bed Leveling seems to have trouble... Making me crazy

Hi makers,

since days, I am trying to fix my issue, with "less" success. Let my summarize, what I did.

After some issues during prints and first layer topics, I figured out, the the bed is not even close to what it should being called flat.

I have followed this instruction to to a proper manual adaption, getting the bed closer to a flat bed.

https://github.com/PrusaOwners/prusaowners/wiki/Bed_Leveling_without_Wave_Springs

Several times, I have performed G80 N3 R5 and read the measured values via G81 and translated them by using this lovely tool: https://pcboy.github.io/g81_relative/

After all, I had the very cool values, where the auto bed leveling should be able to deal with (heated):

0 -0.02 0.01
 -0.02 0 0
 -0.03 -0.04 -0.02

My live Z is actually at -1.350, printing fine in general.

For whatever reason, even using my calibration file attached, I have squeezed areas, and others where it is even high, so definitely not leveled.

Just doing the same print again without any changes, It runs well... And sometimes not... Something is making my success very dynamic...

Does anyone have a idea, where this could come from?

FW 3.81, 0,4 nozzle, 0.2 Layer high.

You should probably attach a picture of your completed calibration circle.

Make sure you are not confusing bed level problems with lack of adhesion under the circle.

The bed is not level. The X rods are not level. The Y rods are not level.

Heating the bed warps it to something else.

Use 7x7 - not 3x3 mesh level. It corrects more of the bed. G80 N7 R5

And, the last variable you fight is the PINDA is temperature sensitive and changes detection height run to run.

Try this Printer-Startup gCode.

M115 U3.7.1 ; tell printer latest fw version
G90 ; use absolute coordinates
M83 ; extruder relative mode

; cool down PINDA
M106 S255 ; turn on fan
M104 S0 ; turn off nozzle heat
M140 S0 ; turn off bed heat
M860 S35 ; wait until PINDA is less than 35C
M106 S0 ; turn off fan

; preheat nozzle to a low temp, get plastic mushy before driving into the bed with G28
M140 S[first_layer_bed_temperature] ; set bed temp
M109 S175 ; wait for extruder temp
M190 S[first_layer_bed_temperature] ; set & wait for bed temp
G28 W ; home all without mesh bed level

; soak PINDA then level
G0 X50 Y50 Z1 F3000; this is a good PINDA heating position
M860 S37.5 ; wait until PINDA is >= 35C in winter, 37.5C spring/fall, 40C summer
G80 N7 R5; mesh bed leveling

; heat to extrude temp
G0 X0 Y-3.0 Z10 F3000; this is a good nozzle heating position
M109 S[first_layer_temperature] ; set & wait extruder temp

; purge
G1 Y-3.0 Z0.20 F1000.0 ; go outside print area
G92 E0.0
G1 X1.0 Y-1.0 E0.5 F500.0 ; scribble 1
G1 X1.0 Y-3.0 E0.5 F500.0 ; scribble 1
G1 X2.0 Y-1.0 E0.5 F500.0 ; scribble 2
G1 X2.0 Y-3.0 E0.5 F500.0 ; scribble 2
G1 X3.0 Y-1.0 E0.5 F500.0 ; scribble 3
G1 X3.0 Y-3.0 E0.5 F500.0 ; scribble 3
G1 X60.0 E9.0 F1000.0 ; intro line
G1 X100.0 E12.0 F1200.0 ; intro line
; G1 X95.0 F2000.0 ; wipe left
G1 X105.0 F3000.0 ; wipe right
G92 E0.0

Your script works great, with a small adjustment letting the Pinda just wait for 33 degrees, as it was not able to reach 37 in my environment.

Thx

Timo
