Asymmetrical (and messy) circles

Hi all,

As the photo shows I'm getting really messy circles. There are two "pointy" areas on the top left and bottom right of the circle (the photo is oriented so the top of the plate is at the top of the photo) and in general it's just a gloppy looking thing.

All my research has pointed me to belt issues, but as far as I can tell my belts are plenty tight. They come up around 260 on the Belt Check on the display, and when holding the shafts and manually moving the extruder/plate there is no slippage. Is it possible a belt is TOO tight? Or can there be some other cause? I'm really at my wits end, hoping someone can help me get my circles perfect again.

Many thanks,

Joe

EDIT: I should note, squares appear to print fine, which is surprising perhaps.

RE: Asymmetrical (and messy) circles

So I've done more research and have found examples of people with this exact problem, including producing circles that look JUST like mine, but on a different printer. It's quite interesting actually. The thread is here: https://www.thingiverse.com/groups/anet-a8-prusa-i3/forums/general/topic:36234 but I can't quite work out what I should be checking.. can anyone translate?
