Anyone know a nozzle variety pack that fits the MK3?

I'm searching around for different diameter nozzles for my MK3. Since it uses the E3D V6 hot end I started searching around on Amazon for nozzles that fit the E3D V6. I found this multipack which seems perfect:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D721WH3/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza

This says it's for the Makerbot printer, but if both Makerbot and the MK3 use the E3D V6 hot end these should work for the MK3 as well, right?

If not, anyone have any other suggestions on where to get a pack of brass nozzles with varying diameters for the MK3?

Yes they will work with your MK3. Not sure about the price that looks like it is a mistake. That is the price for less than you could expect to pay for a single nozzle. For a good supplier of nozzles try MaterHackers if you are in the US or go direct to E3D if you are based in Europe.

You may be ok with those that you found, but it's always buyer beware. If you want to experiment for little cost then try the J-head brand. As far as we have been able to ascertain there is no difference between them and original E3D. They come in a variety of sizes, and a few materials. There is no requirement for the original E3D brand to be used.

Anything that's for an E3D V6 hotend should fit.

I've been experimenting with a couple of similar bargain packs. So long as they're for the E3D V6, you should be fine. I have read of cheap nozzles flaking or breaking, particularly with higher-temp materials, so I'd suggest investing in a higher-quality nozzle once you figure out what sizes you want to use most often. The kit with the wrench and socket handle was a good buy. The additional tools have been worth more than the nozzles to me. While having the nozzle size printed on rather than indentation sounds like a good idea, they quickly get gunked over, so it's hard to tell the various sizes apart once they see some use.

I found that the 0.2mm are simply too small to use. The 0.3mm and up worked just fine. The clone manufacturers seem to avoid 0.25mm for some reason -- that size works well using a genuine E3D nozzle. Things got really interesting with the 0.6mm. Filament seems to be oozing on with big fat juicy strokes.

Thanks for all of the tips!

And yeah, I'm def a bit more wary about the cheap variety pack. Between what you all have been saying here and advice from a couple of friends in one of my tech slack teams I'm going to go with the nozzle pack directly from E3D. I'm still fairly new (the MK3 is my first printer aside from the one I've used at work), so I'd rather play it safe for now.

Thanks again for the advice 🙂

[...] Between what you all have been saying here and advice from a couple of friends in one of my tech slack teams I'm going to go with the nozzle pack directly from E3D. Nozzle-wise, that's probably the safe bet. You don't want to introduce variables to your process as you're learning, and a nozzle issue will have an impact on everything you do. It's good to have a "known-good" backup when problems arise.

That said, the one disappointment I had with the Fun Pack was the lack of a socket to remove the actual nozzle. They've provided the all-important wrench to hold the heatbreak, but nothing for the hot little nozzle. Handling a hot nozzle with anything that doesn't secure it to keep it off the build plate and rolling around in your lap is no fun. I ordered one of the combo kits specifically for the screwdriver socket. I don't use the nozzles, but they're a backup or OK for experiments, and I couldn't find the screwdriver+socket elsewhere for cheaper. You may have something suitable in your toolkit already.

I use below when swapping nozzle, works perfectly.

And a 16mm(if i remeber correctly) block key to hold the heat block.

For the nozzles it is best to get a proper 7mm socket and a small touque wrench to drive it with the stop set at 3Nm. Apart from the tools used the E3D website had excellent advice on the nozzle changing process.

Just watched this video and the commends below from Anders Olsson. The video is on the Olsson Ruby nozzle, but the comments apply to any brass nozzle. He states:

3 Nm is crazy much for any nozzle by the way, I am not sure why E3D wants you to tighten nozzles that hard (I wasn't aware of that recommendation, should have made it clearer on the box if I had known). A standard 3 mm brass nozzle breaks at roughly 5 Nm as a reference and a solid brass screw at 6-7 Nm. The ruby snaps around 3 Nm (yes, of course I have tested that), while 0.1 Nm is normally enough to get a good seal.
I personally use a 0.25 Nm printed ABS torque wrench and I never had a leak. Ultimaker recommends 1 Nm as a reference.

I believe it's 17mm.

17mm for MK2/S and 16mm for MK3. :geek:
