Advanced Calibration
Hello,
I would describe myself as an intermediate user of 3D printer; not at all "advanced". I did start with an Ender 3 V2 and learned how to put mods on it like a BL-Touch sensor and manually leveled its bed (it uses springs unlike Prusa i3s)
That said, I am curious regarding this Advanced Calibration section of Prusa's Help section.
On each article it says:
This is an advanced calibration, recommended only to experienced users.
Does that mean it's not required for the best prints? Do I need it at all? Or is it a "nice to know" in case something pops up?
RE: Advanced Calibration
It means, those calibrations are not needed for good prints but they can improve your print quality further. They are not nice to know in case something pops up, because they are all methods to fine tune your printer in a specific way - they are not something you need to consider if something (new) pops up, then you need to troubleshoot and find the reason for this something. The respective articles in that section each describe what the specific calibration is supposed to achieve.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Find out why this is pinned in the general section!
RE: Advanced Calibration
I believe a number of cases of non-stick and uneven first layers could be helped by the advanced bed level correction.
As for things like extrusion multiplier and PID tweaking, it's probably not needed in most cases.
