3D Printer Annoys the Dogs
I have two dogs. At least one of them gets really anxious when I run the 3d printer. I think the other one is anxious because the first is anxious. Anyway, I didn't really understand it. The dogs are driving my wife crazy while the printer is running.
I used Spectroid on my phone and capture this plot while printing. There is a big spike near 20kHz. Between the voice optimized phone mic and likely using 48kHz sampling, the frequencies over 20kHz are probably rolled off in this plot. There may be more noise above 20kHz. I suspect something in the printer is making high frequency noise the dogs can hear but I can't.
Has anyone seen this before or have any suggestions on how to suppress the high-frequency noise with FW or setting changes? I would be willing to consider hardware changes as well. I think if the noise can be pushed about 40kHz, we'll be fine. I try to keep the office door closed now, which cuts the high-frequency a lot. I have a Prusa Mk3s.

I did a little more work after the current print ended. It seems the noise comes from the X and Y steppers. If I move the X or Y axis, the steppers are turned on and start making the noise right away. Even if the steppers are not moving, I see this high frequency noise. Disabling the steppers makes the noise stop. I guess this is expected.
When I change to stealth mode, the noise goes away. I may do a little printing in stealth mode to see if the dogs settle down.
I'm not super familiar with stepper motors, so I'll need to do a little more research.

Stealth mode does not fully solve the issue. I think the extruder mode is still in spreadcycle mode. I see the high-frequency noise while printing even in stealth mode. It may be a little lower amplitude.
