$0 or $8 or #8 on display

Hi Guys,

Any one seen this.

Whilst printing, I've just noticed that intermittently the display shows a $0 or $8 / #8 alongside the filename of the file beinging printed.

Wondered if anyone happens to know what it means.

Printer is working fine as far as I can tell.

Thanks in advance,

Martin

What language do you have on your printer?

Which FW version do you have installed?

Hi, thank you for your reply.

English.

Firmware is latest - 3.8.0

It's been bust doing a t he print, noticed the a few other codes , 2, 3 and 00

Given the printer is otherwise fine, I'm thinking a firmware bug ...

Did you do a reset with EPROM delete after upgrading to 3.8.0? There have been all sorts of reported issues when upgrading to 3.8.0 without wiping the EPROM (which unfortunately means you need to do the XYZ Calibration and Z calibration again) one of them being strange characters on the LCD.

Hi Christoph,

No, I just followed the firmware update instructions.

I was going to print another file, wondered if there was something wrong with the file perhaps.

That said, you clearly explained that similar or same issues have been seen - I’ll look up how to clear the eprom and give that a go when I get a few mins spare ...

Thank you.

Ok, did full factory reset then reloaded the firmware - same issue with the display, everything else seems to work fine.

Guessing it’s a firmware issue of some sort.

Not the end of the world ...  but would be nice to fix it.

I am thinking, could not be any garbage in the file name (is imported from your PC)  which the printer is not able to handle?

When printing from the same fila (with the particular file name) you see the same strange characters or at every print they are different?

I suppose it did not do it prior you last firmware update.

Is the file name horizontally scrolling? It usually does, when the file name is longer than the length of the display row. But you use short names so it can be a garbage which is not cleaned up from the display registry/memory from the previous texts.

@zoltan

Thank you for your reply.

possibly something along those lines, though I never used and file names with # or $ in them.  I did think of some sort of file corruption, but this is a new file I’m printing today.

I noticed it with 30 mins of printing on the new firmware, so pretty safe to say I would have seen it at some point in the approx 3 months I’ve had the printer.

From one of the previous replies above, seems that this sort of issue has been seen previously.
