Wrecked Revo?

Hi Guys, I'm hoping someone has some clever advice for me.

I'm using an MK3S+MMU2 print farm with a revo nozzle system. It works great, the MMU2 auto unloads at the end of every print, so changing the a nozzle takes less than a minute.

So, "someone" did some maintenance and didn't replace the nozzle. Next print the filament extruded and melted in the interior bore of the heaterblock.

I cleared most of it out easily, but there is now a residue of PLA on the heater core which behaves like glue each time the nozzle cools.

The system still works, but I have to do hot changes now.

Any advice on how to clean the PLA residue?

RE: Wrecked Revo?

if you know the dimensions you could possibly clean out the bores and threads, with drills and taps. then use a new nozzle or  cleaned nozzle.

PLA can be dissolved in chloroform. Perhaps there is a laboratory near you. You can ask them to clean the heater core for you. You only have to be careful that the chloroform does not attack the cable insulation.

Figured it out.

Popped heater block and spring off the cold end.

Cranked the heater Up to 260 which made the PLA very liquid.

Wiped it off the bottom surface and inner bore with a tissue.

Couldn't do this to the nozzle so I tried scrubbing with acetone and the tissue came off green (The colour of the filament)

The nozzles can now be cold swapped again, so all good. 🙂

Thanks for the help.
