Wierd issue

So, got home last night, started the same print from the same gcode off the same memory card that i have printed every day for past 5 days. I have 5 of these prints completed fine sitting infront of me on the table.

I changed nothing at all on the printer, same roll of filament.

Prints skirt, prints the 3 perimeters, all fine lined up measured are all lined up where they should be. Then it takes a hard right and goes sideways. The bottom layer inside the perimeters when its zig zagging to fill it is NOT centered in the perimeters like it should be. It starts off ok in the corner but by the time its 1" up one side its 1/4" off and not connected to one side of the perimeters and is laying it over the perimeters and closing in on the skirt on the other side. Letting it go further it lays right over the skirt too and keep going off to the side and outside the area it should be printing in.

So thinking my cat may have headbutted it or something while i was at work i do a complete factory reset and redo the calibration. All checks out and i redo the first layer calibration using some files i found on thingverse as apparently the prusa will only do this with PLA from the menu??? really dumb, i had PETG loaded and could not find a way from menu to do first layer cal with PETG without downloading my own files for it and just using them, either way did it with PETG and got it dialed in better than i had it so thats a plus, much nicer looking first layers now.

Unfortunately it had no effect on my issue, sure the first layer stuck better and looked better but was still off and running over the perimeters.

Printed marvin from same SD card, turned out perfect, printed benchy, turned out perfect.

Suggestions?

I don't suppose you checked the crash counter for the print, did you?

If it looks like it just jumped to the right all of the sudden, I had a similar issue. My x-axis was not running smoothly, and it would occasionally result in a crash. When it tried to reset the home position, the x-axis would hit a rough spot and think that was the x=0 location. It continued printing, but from then on, everything was shifted to the right.

Re: Wierd issue

no crashes detected.

Good news though is i figured out what it was. the SD card was starting to corrupt. I plugged it into my PC and looked at the Gcode, which showed exactly what was happening with the issue, the bottom layer being outside the perimeters. Compared it to gcode stored on PC, same code i transferred to SD card 5 days earlier was stil correct.

Tossed sd card in trash bin pulled one out of one of my DSLR's put the gcode on it and im back in business.
