Why did Prusa make the filament channel smaller on the extruder, between the C1 and R6 revisions?

I thought I was going crazy for awhile after printing and installing the newest models Prusa has for the extruder, labeled R6 on Printables.com. Because mid-print filament swaps have been getting stuck after the upgrade.

After examining the difference between the R6 and C1 (which came with the printer), I noticed the channel at the top of the extruder is MUCH smaller now. Along with forcing the PTFE tube that goes into the hotend to be much shorter. You can notice a clear bump that prevents the PTFE tube from going up any higher in R6.

Image for example, R6 is on the left, C1 is on the right. The blue highlight is where the PTFE tube can go. The red arrow points out the lip that now stops the PTFE tube
