Before choosing an Air purifier,  the HEPA filter could remove the particulars smaller than 0.3micron, some air filters have 4-stage filters, that combine hepa filter and an activated carbon filter. so I think it could work

Before choosing an Air purifier

I think any filter/purifier is better than none, but the HEPA filter with a duct unfortunately creates so much noise if used in a sealed environment that this thing is really only suitable for a basement or garage (as it appears it should be). My original thought was to use it in an urban apartment, but I gave up on that.

A HEPA Air Purifier with 4 stages. It features Polyproylene Pre-filter, Medical Grade HEPA Filter, Activated Carbon Filter, and Silver ion Filter to remove 99.97% airborne contaminants as small as 0.3 microns, including pet dander, pet hair, pollen, allergens, formaldehyde, fine dust, cigarette smoke, odors, VOC, and more. The ideal air purifier for pet hair dander allergy sufferers.

A good hepa filter will cost you a good bit of cash.
