What is the coolest you are able to print PLA?

I generally print at 215C for the first layer and 210C after, but I am fairly inexperienced and have only used Prusa and Hatchbox PLA. One thing I noticed when I printed my temperature towers is that the Prusa filament turned to spaghetti at 185C and the Hatchbox did the same at 190C (even though the temp range on the spool is 180C - 210C).

I don't know if this is normal, or perhaps my hot end isn't as hot as it is reporting. I've read that you can use a laser temperature gauge to measure your hot end if you put some tape on the outside to make it non-reflective. How do you verify the temperature of your hotends? Is there a better way than the laser temperature gauge?

Thanks!

190C then the MK3 will not extrude anymore - doesn't it? because of low temperature protection

correct, EXTRUDE_MINTEMP is set to 190 degrees, because the MK3 is a little weaker than the MK2 when pushing filament through the nozzle.
MK2 had some better hotend cooling too, on the MK3 you'll get clogs when retracting a couple of times below 205 degrees.

I've lowered my mintemp to 160 in the firmware, the Titan has quite a bit of force to print those nasty overhangs cleaner 😉
